Bio
As part of lifelong dedication to making his life more difficult than it needs to be, Von knew he had to become an artist.
Having honed an ability to laugh at nearly anything from years of dealing with traumatic events (both in his own life and in those he helped as a first responder), Von crafted a wild theory - that anything can be funny (if you just look at it weirdly). After a few years of learning to apply this theory to some of the most difficult struggles of his life…the result is nothing short of magical. Join Von on an intense and outrageous ride as you laugh your way through fear, confusion, and adrenaline - but also love, hope, connection, and what it means to heal.
His predilection for chaos started during a challenging childhood, which developed into an adolescence of crime and drug abuse. It seemed he’d become just another statistic, but a trip to rehab proved successful. Von developed a passion around the subjects of mental health and recovery as he struggled to find his place in the world, newly sober.
Confident in the skills he’d gained in his recovery, he was soon put to the ultimate test - he worked as a first responder on an ambulance for several years. Originally drawn to the high-stress, high-impact nature of the job, Von found instead that what makes a truly excellent caregiver isn’t just a tolerance for the dangerous and weird (though he had plenty of that). Instead, his recovery deepened upon finding that what really made a difference in a patient’s life - and his own - was a capacity for compassion.
Now, as a stand-up comedian, storyteller, and writer, Von combines the rebellious spirit of his youth; the strange, trippy perspective of his adolescence; the high-energy, manic thrill of his emergency work; all held together by the loving, caring undercurrent developed in both his recovery and time working with those in need.
Von is currently based in Denver, but has toured nationally as a headliner - performing everywhere from bars, to clubs, to theaters. Winner of Pop Culture Con 2019 Tournament of Laughs, and multiple Moth Story Slams. He is a regular headliner of Second Chance Comedy, a show designed to inform, educate, but above all entertain those in recovery from drug addiction, their families, or anyone interested in learning about the experience of recovery in the most fun way possible.
